The Battle of Ramsour’s Mill Living History Weekend commemorates the June 20, 1780 Battle of Ramsour’s Mill, when Whigs met Tories on a hillside just outside the little town of Lincolnton. This year, the commemoration will take place the weekend of June 4 & 5, 2023 beginning with the laying of wreaths at the resting place of some 70 unknown in a grave near Battleground Elementary School. It will be followed at 1 by keynote speaker Andrew Waters, author of To the End of the World: Nathanael Greene, Charles Cornwallis, and the Race to the Dan. In between, hearth cooking demonstrations by the Lincoln County Hearth Cooks, reenactments and weapons demonstrations, a militia encampment, tours, heritage demonstrations, and period crafts. Suitable for all ages, and FREE. IN THE EVENING, JUNE 3 AND 4: Learn all about the battle from the voices who lived it. Ghost Walks with the cast of Thunder Over Carolina, Inc., cost is $10 at the entrance; 6 and under free.
